Music Society

Yesterday Ryan, Nate, Lauren and I worked the Fallbrook Music Society gig at the Bob – everything went fairly well, especially once we actually got going. I showed up a little early and there were already people sitting outside and I knew that we had quite a bit of work that we needed to do before we let them in at 11. I was kind of annoyed when 10:30 came by and none of the crew was there. I called Nate and he pretended that I had just woke him up and then I called Ryan and he said he was on his way. I’m not sure where Lauren was, but she was volunteering so she has a little more flexibility… :) What can I do to make the crew actually show up on time? As I get more people on the payroll there I will start calling in replacements if people aren’t there on-time. I can’t decide where to draw the line – yeah, we are there early so that we have a little bit of spare time if someone is running late or whatever, so I guess maybe I just needed to make it clear for this show that they needed to be there on-time. It’s just aggravating, cause they weren’t in and working until almost 15 minutes after they were supposed to be. Anyways, it all worked out – we worked our butts off to get the risers over and setup, the chairs and all the rest of the stuff. We must have rearranged the risers 4 different times, but once again, it all worked out in the end.

OK, enough griping… and it’s time for class… after work I basically went home and watched 3 episodes of Alias… I kept wanting to go to sleep, but I had to find out what was going to happen next. I think I only have 3 or 4 episodes left to go!

Cheesecake

Wedding this morning – everything went fine for the actual wedding, but I had to play with the DVD player because the DVD that the videographer brought had audio problems when played in our player. Fortunately he brought his own because he has had problems in the past. I’m not sure where the problem was from, but I gave him some pointers. I think it is so odd that so many people have so many problems with DVDs and I have really yet to run into a problem. I don’t think any of the discs that I have made have ever come back to me with a problem.

After the wedding it was home to do some bills and stuff. I got a dent in the pile, but it is still a huge pile. I still have no clue how much money is in my checking account – I just hope that there was enough in there to cover the transfers I made, maybe I’ll have time to find out one of these days.

Aimee sent me an email this morning about meeting up tonight to do something and we finally worked it out – all we ended up doing was meeting up at Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Ryan and Batchelor came along for the ride and we checked out the new Apple Store at the Mission Viejo mall. I’ve never been there before, but it seems like a decent mall. The Apple Store was one of the small ones though – like the UTC Store. It was nice to get to hang out with Aimee because we haven’t done it in such a long time …

Long Overdue Update

I don’t even think I have a good excuse other than I’ve just been so tired lately as to why I haven’t been writing. I keep meaning to and then I get sidetracked. I need to get back into the rhythm of things, somehow I seem to have gotten off track and it is driving me crazy. I’m always tired and never seem to have the time to do the little things like pay the bills and write in the journal. So let’s recap…

Tuesday was spent mainly at the Bob doing the counseling thing. Found out that Batch wasn’t going to be able to come in the next day so I made plans to come in before I went to Fullerton and get things going for Michael. I think after work I ended up going to Outback with pyro & batch, but I honestly can’t even remember at this point.

Wednesday did the Bob and then was on my way to school but decided that I really just wanted to go home and go to sleep. I couldn’t come up with a really good reason to go, to justify the $20 in gas there and Alison gave me permission to go home and go to sleep so that’s basically what I did. I came home, worked on downloading some more episodes of Alias and then fell asleep watching “Something to Talk About.” I slept through dinner and all that stuff – which isn’t anything major – but it was my brother’s birthday. I guess they tried to wake me up for quite some time, but just couldn’t awake me so they gave up. Later that night I ended up going to Friday’s with Pyro (because he was doing a pickup at Pechanga) and Ryan (on his way home from school). We were there until they cut the music and we took that as the cue to leave shortly before 2 o’clock!

Thursday I was back at the Bob for the music society show for the high school kiddies. Lauren finally came by to visit, but we didn’t get a chance to hang out and I had to run over to ASB to try to figure out what they did to the sound system again. After that I got some dance music edited and then headed out to Vista for dinner with Chris, Tina and her family and Pyro at an Italian place called Mama’s and Papa’s on Escondido Ave, just North of the 78. We had a sausage, ham and pineapple pizza which was really good. After that we somehow ended up at the Oceanside shooting range. I’ve never managed to go with the guys before because they always went when I was busy doing stuff, and it can also get rather expensive. I’m glad that I finally got to go, even though it meant putting off Jeff Brand which I felt bad about, but I got him taken care of today so it all worked out.

This morning I was up early for the Battle of the Sexes Pep Rally at the high school. It went well I guess, but these pep rallies are just so stupid these days. I wish we could get the old pep rallies back, but it just doesn’t seem to be happening… it’s all downhill from here. As soon as the rally was over I was off to Grand Tradition to take a look at a computer that had crashed. I’m guessing they had some power issues or maybe a virus, because the BIOS seems to be corrupted and the hard drive isn’t recognizable in anything I’ve stuck it in. After that I got the mail and came home for lunch and then tried to watch a little bit of Alias before it was back to GT for a wedding. After GT I went to Jeff’s to fix his email and then Bouse, Tina and I went out to Oscar’s for dinner.

I got my acceptance letter from SDSU sometime this week, which actually somewhat surprised me, so now I guess I have a month and a half to figure out what I’m going to do. I think it makes the most sense for me to continue going to Fullerton because they are about the same distance away, I have a place to live at Fullerton, I’m already enrolled at Fullerton and Fullerton seems to care enough about me to actually want me, but it seems like a chore for SDSU to even open up a PDF document or what to do anything for me.

Now, off to finish this episode of Alias and then sleep. I have to be up for a wedding in the morning and then it should be a pretty “good” weekend as I have nothing else planned after the wedding in the morning until Music Society at 10:30 on Sunday morning. I really have a lot of paperwork to do around the house and a lot of reading to do for school, so I’m hoping that I can get quite a bit of it done this weekend. I also need to get out for a ride because it has been so long… so many things to do… why can’t I have more time???

The Weekend (continued)

Sunday I was supposed to do a wedding at GT, but I asked Richie if he was interested in doing it because I had other stuff to get done. I spent $127 at the iTunes Music Store on music for the week for ASB and made CDs for them to play at lunch each day. I got some other stuff done, but still am not caught up with all the bills and other paperwork… I think I still have payroll taxes to deposit from December! I can’t remember what else happened on Sunday, but I do know that I went to bed early because I was dead tired.

Monday I got up and after watching Alias and “doing homework” I was off to the high school to drop off the CDs and then it was off to Fullerton. I was seriously debating not going yesterday and I probably wouldn’t have gone if I didn’t have an Exam in Econ. I thought about just driving up for that class so that I could go home and get some sleep, but I figured if I was going to go up I would try and make it to all of my classes. When I got to Fullerton, Ryan and I went out to lunch at In & Out and then I went to the library to do some reading before class as usual. I wasn’t sure how my Econ exam went, but I just looked online and it looks like I got an 18.5 – whatever that means. I honestly don’t. The highest score that I could find was 21, so I guess that might be an 88% or it could be out of 25, I guess I’ll find out tomorrow. I went and grabbed some pizza, spent some time on the computer and then it was off to the library to try and read the chapter for accounting before the quiz. I got it done and decided that I would stay in class through the quiz and then take off so that I could get some sleep. That went fairly well and I got home about 10 and basically went straight to bed (OK, I watched an episode of Alias – but now I only have 2 left!) I didn’t even pull out my laptop the entire time I was home.

Got up this morning, did the normal stuff and then here I am at the high school listening to the same counseling presentation that I swear I hear every year. Doesn’t this ever change? Maybe I can get through some emails and get some reading done for school today… So who wants to go out to lunch with me today?

Airbands, etc.

Last Wednesday I ended up going out to Chili’s with Ron, Kathy and Kristy and I didn’t get home until something like 10. I honestly can’t remember what else happened because it has been so long, but I do remember that I got a free chocolate shake because it was “my birthday.” The shake was actually pretty good.

Thursday I edited some dance music and then Ryan and I were off to Island Brothers for lunch (man I miss that place) and then to get the truck from Miramar Ford and the lights from Peterson. Of course Power Plus bailed us out by letting us borrow some straps and Ryan stopped at Allie’s on the way back to get some staging pieces. We worked at the school until about 8 and then it was off to the Bar to “get wasted” on strawberries.

Friday I was back at the school at 6:30 to stupidvise Tom tie in the power and then Nathaniel, Chris Bouse and I went to breakfast at the Wayside. The day was pretty crazy with one thing after another that just hadn’t been thought of before. Probably the biggest headache was the staging – we all thought that the high school had 12 pieces, when in fact they only had 9. Because of this, I had to run back down to Allies to pick up another 3 pieces. Later we found out after they setup the stage with the wrong size legs that we didn’t have enough legs to build the whole stage. We got creative and made a stage that was only 2 feet short of what it was supposed to be, but I wish that we had just canned the whole stage idea because it would have made things a lot easier and would have saved us quite a bit of money. (The staging started off as needing 6 pieces to add to what FHS already had – so I figured it was worth the cost, but I won’t do that again!)

There just wasn’t enough time in the day to deal with airbands before I had to head to the Bob to work Heritage Ballet. Things went fairly well there – we had to import a bunch of audio into the computer so that we didn’t get too confused, but other than that the show was a piece of cake. Lauren and I had lots of sleepy time in the booth because we were both dead tired – well, I think everyone there was dead tired. We didn’t make it out to Friday’s Friday night because George was having problems on his show and all the rest of the guys went down there to help him out, but I stayed behind because I had a 24 foot truck to deal with and Lauren to get home. It all worked out because it let me get to bed at a decent time.

Saturday morning Ryan and I were supposed to take the gear back to Larry and return the truck, but he called me at 4 a.m. to say that he was calling in sick. I was frustrated at first because I was up at 6 in the morning to deal with the truck, but I got everything worked out and we returned the truck Saturday night. This gave me some time at home to work on some paperwork and watch some Alias which I had been falling behind on. The two shows went fine at the Bob – just some fire lane hassles, but nothing major. Lauren and I finally got in another episode of Alias between the shows. We tried to start another one, but we had to start working again before we got too far into it. I got some more sleepy time in while she was running sound cause everything was going so smoothly. Still didn’t get all the things done I wanted to, like all the pictures imported, but it was fun. Bouse stopped by for the first show and we worked on his DVD cover and tried to have some fun during the show. We went to Subway for dinner and then he went home to take a nap because he didn’t think he could handle another show. He was supposed to stop back by after the second show and then go return the truck and go to dinner with us, but we couldn’t wake him up. We ended up not even going to dinner because we had to get Lauren back, but everything else worked out just fine.

Cool Again

It has returned to decent temperatures here today in the southland. I was actually cold last night, but not cold enough to close the windows! I think it was only 70 something when I got to Fullerton this morning after going to the high school this morning for the AIDS assembly. I think everything went good there because they didn’t even call me over for anything technical which is a good sign that they are picking up on things.

School went ok today, nothing to report that I can think of. My phone has been ringing off the hook today though, I guess that must be a sign of airbands coming up. The emails have been coming in very slowly, but I think that is because the server seems to be down once again… Not sure what the deal is, but I think it is time that The Warrior Host goes shopping for a new webhost. Now I’m going to sit here and figure out what I’m going to do until 7. I’m kind of hungry and want to go get some food…

Things Done

I didn’t get out of class last night until about 9:30 and by the time I got to my car and then got gas and finally got on the freeway it was about 9:50. That made it after 11 when I finally got home. I realized that I forgot to mention dinner last night – I tried the Busy Bee place, but as Tammy told me, it wasn’t very good. I don’t think I’ll be going back. I had a teriyaki chicken rice bowl and it was pretty darn bad. I think we need an Island Brothers! Also, on the way to school yesterday after passing through the new CHP inspection zone south of Tom’s farms (there were only 5 cars there this time) I had a tire explode on the truck next to me. That was kind of interesting and it was right about then that I was figuring it was just time to turn around, go home and go back to bed.

Today went fairly well. I was up later than I wanted to be and then got sidetracked with some journal comments and new journals that had been posted by some friends. I finally got out on my bikeride in the 80 some degree heat. I think I got a good work out this morning and then it was off to the school to set some dates with the dance girls and get some music edited both for dance and airbands. I also got some other things accomplished on my todo list, like getting a truck for Friday! It was 4 something before I got out of the school and then on my way home from the post office I was talking and Lauren and we both decided that we were hungry (no lunch) and that Subway sounded really good – so I turned a hard left at Green Canyon, went to get her and then had linner at Subway before coming home to not get nearly as much done as I was hoping. I got through all of the email for today and did some other things, but didn’t get to any homework or to getting the DVDs running or to paying the bills! I have to be up early tomorrow for the AIDS assembly at the high school before going to Fullerton, and I’m hoping that I can get some stuff done tomorrow night so that I don’t have to worry about this crap over airbands… Oh yeah, I got my refund check from the DMV today: $334.78! That should help with some expenses.. but of course I still need the 10 minutes to deposit it at WaMu and then the time to send the money from WaMu to the other companies… Good night…

Rain, Come Back!

I actually had to get up and be somewhat productive yesterday. I got up in the morning and went for a bikeride, even though Ryan never showed up. It was freaking hot though. I guess there will be no more of this waiting to go for a ride so that it can “warm” up… I’m going to have to start getting up early to go for rides before it gets warm. I guess that is a good thing though because it should let me get more rides in. After the ride it was home for a bit and then off to GT for a wedding. Nothing fun to report there, which I guess is a good thing. Things seem to be going good with Richie, which is also a good thing. After the wedding I came home to try to convince myself to get some stuff done, but of course that didn’t happen. I eventually went out with the family to Outback for my “birthday dinner.” On the way back we stopped at Target to get a bookshelf that I saw advertised which is now filling the void between my desk and my bed. I’ve been looking for something to put there since November when I rearranged, and it just magically appeared for $44 on Sunday.

It was hot again today – I slept with the windows open all night long and was never even cold. I left the house late this morning, then got stuck in construction on Reche and then again at the border check. All that combined with me driving the speed limit due to the new CHP enforcement combined to make me a little on the late side to school this morning. I didn’t have time to find another Subway so I went for Del Taco and then went for fighting for a parking space. Magically right about the time that I pulled into the parking lot my turn signal decided to start working like it is supposed to again. (It had been working to the point where when I turned on my right signal, all of my turn signals would flash.) Everything worked out eventually and then it was off to the library to do some reading. Classes seem to be going as usual so far. I didn’t get to go out with Tammy again because I had a lot of reading to catch up on for accounting which between getting out of ISDS early and my break before accounting seems to be working out ok so far. Now it is off to accounting…

Alias All Day Long

I woke up this morning and didn’t feel like getting out of bed so I just started watching Alias. Eventually I got up had breakfast and watched more Alias. Then I took a break for a little bit and watched more Alias. I eventually got through all of the first season and then decided that I had to know what happened in the second season, so i ran out and bought it at Wal*Mart, but I’m pissed at them because the website had it for like $40 and it was $44 something in the store. How am I supposed to find out what their in store price is??? Oh well, I’m not going to worry too much about it… but maybe it is time for a letter to corporate. After Wal*Mart, I dragged pyro & Ryan out to Chili’s for a quick dinner and then it was home to talk with Lauren for a while (instead of watching Alias — I had sent her an email to tell her how mad I was because it was all her fault that I was so addicted to this television show!) and now it is bedtime, along with watching an episode or so of the second season. Tomorrow – I am going for a bikeride and I’m doing a wedding. Who knows what else will happen…

Happy Birthday to Me

So I didn’t quite make it into bed last night before 9. I think I was on the phone for too long and then I still had to watch an episode of Alias before going to sleep. Then just about as I was actually going to get to sleep … so I turned my phone off and then decided that I should find my pager and make sure it was working. Well, the battery had died so I grabbed a new battery put it in and then within a couple minutes it was beeping … I just turned it off because I was going crazy — All I wanted to do was sleep! Sadly, I don’t think I actually got to sleep until more like 11 or 12 for whatever reason (and I have no clue what that reason was).

Now you tell me… What was the one thing that I wanted for my birthday? Come on… It’s the same answer I provide for everything… sleep! Did I get it? No… I was awake at 4:30 this morning so that I could go to the Bob and do the VAPA show. Everything went good there despite the fact that we were either short staffed or way over staffed. I kept waiting for a particular someone to come keep me company, especially during second period, but she never showed up. I couldn’t find her after school either. I was bummed, but she called me just as I was pulling into Grand Tradition to find out what the plan was. I didn’t really meet with Desoree and Richie today, but I think that they got everything squared away without my interference. Then it was off to the post office and then home to take my boots off for a minute while I figured out what we were doing.

Bouse & Tina didn’t want to deal with traffic and pyro was already in downtown so we ended up going down to The Cheesecake Factory at Fashion Valley instead of the one at Fashion Island. Oops! I just realized that I forgot to call Tina! Oh no… I’m going to be in trouble now! (The other Tina, not the one that was going to come with us.) Quiet… don’t tell her! It ended up just being Lauren, Batchelor, Pyro and myself, but it was still fun. I think Lauren is still trying to get over the salad that they brought her. She was eating it like crazy and didn’t even manage to make a dent in it! After Cheesecake we went over to the Apple Store as usual just to check things out – I almost bought a battery for my 17″ powerbook, but then the line was too long and I said forget it as I haven’t figured out yet what I’m doing with these computers… I kind of want to use the 12 for school, but it seems like it will be a pain to keep going back and forth so I don’t know what to do! After Apple we went on a shopping spree.. well, not really, but Lauren wanted to get some eyeliner to replace the eyeliner that she used to write Batchelor’s phone number on her leg the other week with. Well, by this time all the party-poopers were too tired to continue so we basically all went home. No movie night at the Bob. No more Alias. No more fighting over the chair. :’( Now I’m off to watch Alias on my own and then hopefully get some sleep – and I really want to go for a ride in the morning, but we will have to see.

Halfway!

I watched another episode of Alias in the library last night waiting for traffic and then met Tammy over in the bookstore to get some art supplies. Then I started the trek home, talked with Lauren for a while and then made it home to find strawberry shortcake! Needless to say, I don’t think I ever had “dinner” last night – just a lot of dessert. After dinner I spent some more time on the phone and then watched two episodes of Alias. I couldn’t stop and didn’t want to stop, but finally told myself that I had watched enough and convinced myself that Sydney was still going to be alive through the rest of the season, so I didn’t have to worry about her father shooting her. …

I got up this morning all determined to go for a bikeride, but after watching an episode of Alias and then getting sidetracked by emails and stuff, it just never happened. I made it down to the school to look at the power situation with Tom, the campus electrician, and he felt comfortable that there was going to be 200 amps available for us to use for airbands. He thinks that we should get a breaker and stuff though so that it will be easier to tie in for the future – and he may be right, but right now I’m concerned if there is going to be a future airband show. At this point, we might as well just go back to doing a small show outside at lunch, but I guess as long as we are breaking even on the evening show we should keep it for the community.

After playing with power I headed over to Griener’s room to import music for the next ASL Signed Song performance (see all the work I’m doing for you Batchelor). That went well and we seem to only have about 20 songs so far this year. I only had one CD given to me that had nothing on it! The computer told me it was blank and I tried to convince it that it was lying to me, but after taking it out and looking at it, it wasn’t lying to me. Then I found another CD where they taped something to the top of it – I was worried about that, but my drive still seems to work! I even got to have a little bit of fun talking whale with a cheer song.

After that I was off to find Lauren in front of the theatre and I succeeded. Then it was over to Grand Tradition to meet with Desoree. James wasn’t going to be there, but he ended up making it and we got things straightened out. He’s going to take a less active roll because of his involvement over at Cask-N-Cleaver. Richie is going to step up to the “primary backup” position and we will go from there. I’m trying to talk Richie into also helping me out at the Bob with some of these daytime gigs where I can’t seem to find anyone to work!

Came home, dealt with email and paperwork and stuff. Got my first birthday card. I was scared to open it. …

I had dinner at home tonight and am now basically ready for bed. I have to be up at 5 tomorrow so I can be at the Bob at 6:30 or 6:45. I need to take the computer back to ASB and deal with a bunch of other stuff to. I still need to get a truck for airbands next week and deal with so much other stuff! I think I’m going to spend some time talking, watch hopefully only one episode of Alias and then be in bed/asleep around 9!

No Rain!

Wow! Today was amazing. There was no rain. Sunny skies and almost “warm.” I haven’t even put on a sweatshirt or jacket all day today… this is almost like the California I know. I actually left “early/ontime” this morning (9:45) and it was either a good thing that I did leave so early or it was a bad thing and I got what I deserved for actually leaving early. All of the past times that I’ve driven the 91 here there has been no impact on the speeds from traffic (i.e. traveling roughly at the speed limit or thereabouts) so I was telling myself that today I wasn’t going to waste the $1.70 on the Fasttrak because it wasn’t saving me anything. At just about the last possible second, the car in front of me slammed on their brakes and instead of slamming mine on, I just decided to veer into the Fasttrak lanes. Within minutes I realized that this was a good thing because traffic was practically stopped in the normal lanes while I was zipping by at an undisclosable speed. Got to Fullerton in the normal amount of time, hit up Del Taco (no Taco Bell because of Tammy – and I think I’ve had enough of it lately!) and then sat in the parking lot for about 30 mins waiting for a parking spot. I finally got one and then came to the library for the normal reading/Internet time. Classes went good. Still didn’t get the test back in Business Law. We finally got around to taking our test in the ISDS class and Econ was fairly fun. Now I’m just sitting here in the library, trying to figure out what it is that I’m going to do for the next hour or so while I wait for traffic to die down a bit. I’m thinking that I’m going to throw the headphones on, kick back and watch another episode (or maybe two) of Alias! (I’m going to lug these discs around with me everywhere!) Still no plans for dinner… so yeah… let me know… :)

More Alias!

Nothing big to report today. Woke up late, watched an episode of Alias and then it was off to the high school to discuss airbands. I didn’t end up meeting with Desoree & James today which would have been nice because I would really like to know what is going on with scheduling. We are planning on meeting on Thursday now so hopefully everything works out there so we can get this squared away. After I left the high school it was back over to CAST to make Stephanie’s day with another ticket order. I’m having them print the tickets for Sadies now because the kids didn’t get things together and now we’re taking over. After that I came home, did some reading and then it was back to school to check out the power situation in the gym with Batchelor (and pyro was supposed to be there). We concluded that there is not enough power available there, but I will be checking with Tom tomorrow to see what he calculates as available for us. I hope that I don’t have to call in a generator, but if I have to – I guess I have to (or make the 500 ft run to the theatre). Batchelor and I ended up watching another episode of Alias while we were waiting for Pyro to get done up at auto shop, it was a good thing I decided to bring the disc with me! Now I’ve got Batchelor interested in the show.. See what you’ve done Lauren???? Once pyro finally got done at auto shop we headed up to Friday’s for a “quick” dinner and now it is time for bed. School tomorrow, hopefully nothing too exciting – oh wait, I have a quiz in my ISDS class! I better stay up late and study how to use this mouse thing… Wait… I don’t have a mouse on my laptop… I better find one and figure out how to use it!
