CYT Loadin

I can’t say that I got much done yesterday. I got another phone call from GT about network problems first thing in the morning, so I ended up going down there to plug back in their modem which had somehow come loose since I left Thursday night. The rest of the day I worked on other much needed paperwork for CBC and we got the new snake for the Mission. I also finally deposited all the cash from airbands, so there is no longer any reason to break into my house… The cash is in the bank now!

Today was the loadin for CYT. Things went fast. We still had our usual problems with not really knowing where drops were going and such, along with getting one drop that was wrong and missing another one, but other than that things went pretty darn well. It was good to see all the CYT people that I’ve missed…

. . .
. . .
. . .

I finally get to go to church in the morning, but I have to leave early for a wedding. I’m afraid of how hot it is going to be! Then after the wedding I’m hoping to get some stuff done for school finally…

Wicked Update

OK, so here is the deal:

There are still a good number of seats available for some of the shows. I figured out that it is best to search for “house center” rather than best available, but you can do what you want… I had no luck finding any decent seats (i.e. seats that were not absolutely off center) for any group larger than about 2.

If you’d like to come, here’s the info on my tickets:

Wicked – a New Musical
Pantages Theatre, Hollywood, CA
Tuesday July 26, 2005 8:00 pm

Seat location: section MEZZ, row D, seats 101-102
Total Charge: $198.15

visit ticketmaster.com to purchase tickets. You should be able to find something fairly close to where mine are at, but DONT’ WASTE ANY MORE TIME!!!

Bad Switch

I went to Grand Tradition this morning to investigate their Internet problems and found that their switch just decided to stop working on them. Fortunately, it was an easy fix to replace the switch. I think I’m going to find out if the old one is under warranty and send it in if it is as a backup unit for them.

I got to come home for a little bit before having to go back for a wedding. It was hot out there – and it was only like 86! Actually, according to the weather station the high was 83.5 today and it was only about 80 when I was outside working the wedding. I guess it comes down to the humidity maybe? It was about 60%. Maybe I just wasn’t ready for it… In any event, the wedding went well and I got to bug Amanda, so how much better could things have gone?

After the wedding I went and worked the choral concert. We definitely could have used another person on stage for this one, but it all worked out – it just took a little longer than it should have.

I can’t think of anything else to say, so I’m gonna go to bed! Good night and God Bless!

Last Day of School

Woo Hoo! Today was the last “day” of school. I still have finals to go, but it is nice to know the end is so close in sight. I got to go to Cal State Long Beach today to take my math final (only because I wanted to take it early). CSULB has a nice looking campus… Much better than Fullerton! The place looks huge even though it only has a couple more students that CSUF. It also seemed crowded with people, but maybe that had something to do with the time of day I was there.

I don’t think that I did that well on my math final, but I’m sure I got the grade that I deserved. I didn’t put much effort into studying because it wasn’t worth my time. I figured I didn’t have to do all that well on the test to keep my grade. I mean what’s the difference between an A at 90.0 and 100? Nothing! And, to push the matter even farther, who really cares what grade I get as long as I pass? Maybe it is time for an attitude adjustment, or at least some classes that I can actually enjoy – as in learning something more than the same stuff we’ve all been learning for years…

After CSULB, I went to Fuddruckers for some lunch. It was delicious! Then I went to the library at CSUF to work on my paper that was due tonight for religion. Unfortunately I just couldn’t come up with anything to add to it. I’m going to try and finish it up tomorrow morning and send it in late. Then I have some more reading to do and then I need to write the second essay. My religion teacher announced that there is not going to be a final for the class, and that he is just going to give us the extra 5 points for it. Sounds good to me!

I talked to Larilyn for the first time in a couple weeks on the way home. She knew about Wicked, but didn’t get tickets to it because she couldn’t find any of the “cheap” seats. It is too bad that all that is open are the not so good $100 seats (after ticketmaster, etc, charges). Maybe I won’t be going to see the show if no one is interested in going/spending the money… I won’t complain about saving some more money, although it would be fun to go.

I decided it was time to go visit Donna on the way home tonight. Pyro came and joined me and then I took Bouse some dinner at the Mission. Things are coming along there, but there is a lot of work to be done! It’s way past my bedtime, so good night and God Bless!

Nothing Accomplished

. . .

. . .

I think it is safe to say that I didn’t accomplish much of anything today. I did a little bit of studying for math and I started writing my first paper for religion, but that is it! I don’t even know what to blame the wasted time on… I think I was just thinking, or maybe daydreaming is the more correct word for it.

Math final in the morning. Then I have some time before poly sci and religion. I don’t know if I’m going to get my first essay done though, let alone the second one considering I’m still on chapter 2!

Do you see the tree?

One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher
was going to explain evolution to the children. The teacher asked a
little boy:

TEACHER: Tommy do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.
TOMMY: Okay.(He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.
TEACHER: Did you see God?
TOMMY: No.
TEACHER: That’s my point. We can’t see God because he isn’t
there! He doesn’t exist.

A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the boy some questions. The
teacher agreed and the little girl asked:
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yessssss (getting tired of the questions by this time).
LITTLE GIRL: Did you see the sky?
TOMMY: Yessssss
LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the teacher?
TOMMY: Yes
LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brain?
TOMMY: No
LITTLE GIRL: Then according to what we were taught today in school, she must not have one!

Defying Gravity – Wicked lyrics

Defying Gravity – Wicked lyrics

GLINDA
Why couldn’t you have stayed calm, for once! Instead of flying off the handle — !

I hope you’re happy
I hope you’re happy now
I hope you’re happy how you’ve
Hurt your cause forever
I hope you think you’re clever

ELPHABA
I hope you’re happy
I hope you’re happy too
I hope you’re proud how you would
Grovel in submission
To feed your own ambition

GLINDA & ELPHABA
So though I can’t imagine how
I hope you’re happy
Right now

GLINDA
Elphie, listen to me. Just say you’re sorry!

You can still be with The Wizard
What you’ve worked and waited for
You can have all you ever wanted -

ELPHABA
I know
But I don’t want it – No!
I can’t want it anymore

Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by
The rules of someone else’s game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes
And leap…

It’s time to try defying gravity
I think I’ll try defying gravity
And you can’t pull me down

GLINDA
Can’t I make you understand
You’re having delusions of grandeur?

ELPHABA
I’m through accepting limits
Cuz someone says they’re so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try I’ll never know
Too long I’ve been afraid of
Losing love I guess I’ve lost
Well if that’s love
It comes at much too high a cost

I’d sooner buy defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye, I’m defying gravity
And you can’t pull me down!

Glinda, come with me. Think of what we could do – together!

Unlimited
Together we’re unlimited
Together we’ll be the greatest team
There’s ever been – Glinda!
Dreams the way we planned ‘em

GLINDA
If we work in tandem

GLINDA & ELPHABA
There’s no fight we cannot win
Just you and I, defying gravity
With you and I defying gravity

ELPHABA
They’ll never bring us down!

Well, are you coming?

(GLINDA decides to stay behind.)

GLINDA
I hope you’re happy
I hope your happy now that your choosing this -

ELPHABA
You too–
I hope it brings you bliss

GLINDA & ELPHABA
I really hope you get it
And you don’t live to regret it
I hope you’re happy in the end
I hope you’re happy my friend

ELPHABA
So if you care to find me
Look to the Western sky!
As someone told me lately
Everyone deserves the chance to fly
And if I’m flying solo
At least I’m flying free
To those who ground me
Take a message back from me!

Tell them how I am defying gravity
I’m flying high, defying gravity
And soon I’ll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No Wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!!

GLINDA
I hope you’re happy

CITIZENS OF OZ
Look at her
She’s wicked
Get her!!

ELPHABA
Bring me down!

CITIZENS OF OZ
No one mourns the wicked
So we got to bring her -

ELPHABA
Ahhhh!

CITIZENS OF OZ
–Down!

For Good

ELPHABA
I’m limited:
Just look at me – I’m limited
And just look at you -
You can do all I couldn’t do, Glinda
So now it’s up to you
(spoken) For both of us
(sung) Now it’s up to you:

GLINDA
I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you:

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend:
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you:

GLINDA
Because I knew you:

BOTH
I have been changed for good

ELPHABA
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I’ve done you blame me for

GLINDA
But then, I guess we know
There’s blame to share

BOTH
And none of it seems to matter anymore

GLINDA ELPHABA
Like a comet pulled Like a ship blown
From orbit as it Off it’s mooring
Passes a sun, like By a wind off the
A stream that meets Sea, like a seed
A boulder, half-way Dropped by a
Through the wood Bird in the wood

BOTH
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better?

GLINDA
And because I knew you:

ELPHABA
Because I knew you:

BOTH
Because I knew you:
I have been changed for good.

Last Week of School

. . .

I got my portfolio done for business writing this morning, but I didn’t make it to math because I was busy doing the portfolio. It was only a review day anyway. I ended up driving the approximately 35 page portfolio up to Fullerton and then we were done. I went to Costco and then went out to dinner with Ron & Kathy at a local Italian restaurant. It was pretty good, and then we went across the street to Golden Spoon for some frozen yogurt.

I did lots of thinking and listening to Wicked and Matthew West while driving today. Let’s just say that I’ve got a long list of things to do and improve on.

Well, lots of homework to do tomorrow, and I still have an email to finish replying to, so I should probably be getting to sleep… Good night and God Bless.

Not So Boring Day of Dance

This weekend we had Rainbow connection in the theater holding a dance competition. Yesterday was fairly boring, but today we decided to have a bit more fun. Right smack dab in the middle of the day, the fire alarm started going off. Of course, this was at the peak time when we had people everywhere, but fortunately our staff got those people out of there quickly and safely. Our alarm was reporting the same problem with the smoke sensor in the band room that we had a problem with before, but I guess the real problem was that a teacher over in a science lab set something on fire, and that just triggered all the old alarms being silenced. Hopefully the fire department will send the school a bill for coming down there, yet again and maybe they’ll get their act together and FIX all the malfunctions in the alarm system (by like oh… CLEANING!)

The rest of the day wasn’t too interesting, but wasn’t too boring either. Thanks to Batch for bringing us lots of food. Thanks Ussher for the cookies…

I spent a good couple hours on ticketmaster’s website looking for tickets to Wicked. Now I just have to figure out which show is going to have the best seats and get them ordered. Maybe I’ll get lucky and something good will open up when I’m about to order. This all started cause someone was doing a dance to a song from the Wicked soundtrack and then Aimee said something about the show being in town. I think she wants to take her mom, but I don’t know if she wants to go as a group too or what… Batch wants to take Sarah to see it. . . .

. . .
. . .
. . .

Who knows… so much to think about, so little time… I need to get to bed so I can get up in the morning and try and get all this homework done… Good night. God Bless and Love to all!

Wicked coming to town

Wicked is playing in LA at Pantages June 17 – July 31. (It’s coming to SD in July 2006.)

There are not many tickets left for LA. I did find a bunch for the July 21, 2 p.m. show if you’re interested in going there.

Who is interested in going?

(BTW – Thanks Aimee for bringing this up.)

The Keys to Your Heart

At least my results are slightly different than those of Ussher and Pyro…

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.
In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.
You’d like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.
You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.
Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future… one you can grow with.
Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.
You think of marriage as something precious. You’ll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.
In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You’ll do anything for love, but you won’t fall for it easily.
