Cheesecake Factory Love Story

So, the Cheesecake Factory doesn’t let you write much of a love story. This is what I ended up posting there:

Megan and I met when a friend invited her over to my house for movie night. We started talking. I invited her to join us for dinner at CF next week. To my surprise she decided to join us for Disneyland too. We started talking constantly. That Saturday we ended up going to Disneyland and of course going to CF Anaheim.

Tuesday we were texting and made plans for the night. We were already planning on going to Disneyland the following day. Since it was April fools day, I told facebook we were married. We started making up stories that we were having our Disney fairy tale wedding. I don’t remember all that happened, but it was the day that I knew. The next day I knew I wasn’t alone. That weekend I met her family.

Monday, I was giving her the night off, but a friend called and said let’s go to CF, and I said let’s go! I called up Megan and we all went to CF Riverside. We haven’t had a night off since that Tuesday. The following weekend, we had Easter brunch at her parents. After, I had her do an Easter egg hunt. Most of the eggs were easy to find and they all had a note in them. When she put them in the right order, it said where the remaining egg was. She searched and was starting to give up when I gave her another hint. By the time she had the egg opened, I was down on one knee behind her. I asked her to be my wife as she pulled the ring out of the egg.

So, we really met March 21st and were engaged April 12th. There were a few more trips to CF over the coming months. We took engagement pictures in Laguna Beach, followed of course, by the original Cheesecake Factory that I had wanted to go to for a LONG time in Redondo Beach. We went to Pennsylvania and West Virginia for a week where we visited the CF in Pittsburgh. May 30th we were back in Redondo Beach at CF. We were married June 26th. Our reception was the following day and on our way to our honeymoon, you can bet our first stop was at CF Pasadena.

Our Love Story

Well, it has certainly been some time since I’ve taken the opportunity to write at all. In fact, ever since I met Megan I haven’t been so good at writing – I guess it’s just that we’ve been so busy and always had other things to do.

People have been asking for nearly a year now, and Cheesecake Factory finally made the incentive for me to write our love story down and submit it in their contest. Some of this has been covered, and some hasn’t, so I’m just going to try and get it all here in one spot for good!

Megan and I really met when Kenny invited her over to my house for movie night. I had some friends coming over to watch Twilight when it first came out on DVD. I should back up to say that we had kind of met a few weeks earlier at church, when we actually sat next to each other, but didn’t even so much as say a word to each other. The following week we spoke briefly at the Dowden’s, but the ice wasn’t really broken until the night she was here at the house. We started talking and I played her Brad Paisley’s new song, “Then.” I remember that Kenny and I were playing with iTunes DJ and she had started requesting a number of Brad Paisley songs, so I had to see if she had heard his latest. She instantly liked it. One of the other girls that was here, Ashley, was going to be having her birthday Tuesday and we were going to be going to Disneyland. I invited Megan to join us for dinner at Cheesecake Factory before.

When Tuesday came we met up at Cheesecake and then to my surprise she decided to join us afterward at Disneyland. We stayed up way too late that night and spent most of the evening talking. We started texting on our way home that night and the volume only went up from there. I was spending that week at the San Diego Temple for our semi-annual offering in righteousness where we spend most of the day there. So, I was up early the next morning and she was up early for work and we started talking each morning and each night on my way home from the temple. (It’s an hour long drive.) That Saturday I couldn’t decide if i was going to go to the temple or if I was going to call my week done and do something different. One way or another we ended up going to Disneyland – and of course going to Cheesecake Anaheim (with Teal as our waitress).

As what seemed to be par for our relationship, we were out way too late, especially considering the lack of sleep we’d had all week. Megan was going to spend the night at a mutual friend’s house – Sally & Bill (who incidentally had basically schemed this whole relationship) – but we didn’t get there till 2:15 Sunday morning! Unfortunately, they had left the house locked up so we had to try to break in instead of waking them up. After about a half hour of trying all sorts of things and talking about not wanting to wake people up, we finally called her mom who called to wake up Sally. That sure gave us interesting stories to be told the next day at church as I was currently serving in branch council with Bill.

After church on Sunday, she came back to my house where we sat and talked the evening away. We went to branch prayer came back to my house and threatened to have a pillow fight. At some point the evening ended and I decided to give her a night off on Monday. I guess I was worried that she would figure out that too much of me was a bad thing and I would scare her off. That Tuesday we were texting at work and she had eaten something spicy and thought she was going to die, or something to that effect. I asked her what she wanted to do for her last night here on earth – i.e. her last wish – and she couldn’t really come up with something. While I would have chosen Cheesecake, maybe we had just had too much, and she had mentioned this other restaurant Ancho’s previously. I suggested we try Ancho’s and then go go-carting, something else she had mentioned previously. Well, while we were planning all this Kenny showed up at my house, so he came along for the evening as well.

We had a great time and again were out too late. We were already planning on going to Disneyland the following day, April 1st. I actually had a friend who suggested the outing, so I started inviting people, including Megan. She told me that she had the day off from work. Well, long story short, it ended up just being the two of us at Disneyland that day. Since it was April fools day, I decided to tell facebook that she and I were married – and also to see how she would take it. I told her that facebook was being weird and that she needed to check it before we left. I don’t know what she thought – other than I was crazy – but she decided we could be married for the day and confirmed the relationship. We later started making up crazy stories that we were having our Disney fairy tale wedding that day and so forth. The one thing I regret doing was not buying her some kind of ring from Disneyland and putting it on her finger that day. We both were getting phone calls asking about what was going on. I don’t remember all that happened that day, but it was the day that I knew. It was also the second consecutive day that we would always see each other from there on out.

The following day we had no plans to be together, but at the last minute she came down for institute, a scripture study class we have at church. That was the day that I knew my feelings weren’t completely off base and she must have felt something back. We already had plans that Friday night to watch a movie, so she came down. That weekend was our church’s general conference where we watch various sessions on television, so she stayed in Murrieta so we could watch conference together. She invited me to dinner with her family on that Saturday, so we went there and I went to priesthood session with her father. We stayed and played games where I got to meet the whole family. Talk about intimidating: They were asking me all the questions!

Sunday we were back watching conference and we had plans to take Monday off. I was still worried about scaring her away. Well, another Cheesecake fanatic fan of mine called me up and said, “let’s go to Cheesecake,” the four magic words to which I immediately reply, “Let’s go!” I, of course, called up Megan and informed her that she was not going to be getting the night off after all. We haven’t had a night off since that Tuesday, thankfully, to date.

Back when I was trying to fulfill her last wish the previous week, she had mentioned something she doesn’t even remember. Brad Paisley’s Then was playing in the car and she said something to the effect of how she’d love to hear him sing it live. At the time, Brad was going to be playing at Stagecoach festival and I was thinking that would be a great place to propose. I guess my timeline wasn’t fast enough though and I got the hint that week to speed things up. We looked at some rings so I got an idea of what she wanted and decided Friday to call Zales and tell them to get the ring ready. I had that ring burning a hole in my pocket Friday night, all day Saturday when we went to Sea World and then Sunday morning. I had planned an Easter egg hunt for Megan Sunday and told her about it earlier.

We went to her parents for church Easter Sunday morning, and then had brunch at their house with the whole family. We rushed back to Murrieta to go to the singles ward here and I told her that I needed to swing by the house to get my stuff together. She wanted just to stay in the car, but I told her that I needed a few minutes and it would be a good time for her to do her Easter egg hunt. I had made most of the eggs fairly easy to find, and they all had a slip of paper in them. Most of them were lyrics to our song, Then. When she put them in the right order, it spelled out the location of the remaining egg. It spelled out pancake. So, she looked in the fridge and didn’t find an egg. Then she looked in the pantry and still no egg. She was starting to give up when she realized the pancake griddle was on the counter, not it’s normal spot. She looked all around it and didn’t find anything. I asked if she knew it had a drawer at which point she started pulling it out. By the time she had the egg opened, I was down on one knee behind her. I asked her to be my wife as she pulled the ring out of the egg.

Needless to say, we were way late for church. And there wasn’t anything that I needed from the house, other than for that ring to be on her finger and not burning a hole in my pocket! She totally wasn’t expecting it because I had led her to believe it was coming in a few more weeks and she knew I wouldn’t pop the question until I had asked her dad. What she didn’t know was that I had been trying to work up the courage to ask him – and find the time to do so – all morning long! I lingered and stalled at their house that morning trying to get him alone. It wasn’t done the way I planned it, but it worked out just fine. (I was planning to ask him the following week at the Redlands Temple.)

So, we really met March 21st and were engaged April 12th. There were a few more trips to Cheescake Factory over the coming months (I had the help of Discover Card in figuring out our timeline of dining at the Cheesecake Factory.) It was pretty much non-stop tlll the wedding. Megan went looking for dresses the next weekend while I was at a sealing, then I went to the Redlands temple with her parents, where I was planning on asking for her hand in marriage. We took a trip to Arizona to visit my grandma (and get a box she had been holding for me). During the trip we went horseback riding at the OK Corral. Then we were taking engagement pictures in Laguna Beach – followed, of course, by the original Cheesecake Factory that I had wanted to go to for a LONG time in Redondo Beach.

The next weekend we were shopping for cakes and then we were off to Pennsylvania and West Virginia for a week where we visited the Cheesecake Factory in Pittsburgh and Brad Paisley’s hometown of Glen Dale, WV. May 30th we were back in Redondo Beach at the Cheesecake Factory after going to the Point Fermin Lighthouse to scatter my mom’s ashes, something else I had been meaning to do for a long time. Her bridal shower was the following weekend, followed by her endowment. On the last free weekend she took her bridal portraits and we were busy with other things.

We were married June 26th in the Los Angeles Temple. Unfortunately, there was no Cheesecake involved, but we did stop at Chic-fil-a for a snack on our way home. Our reception was the following day and on our way to our honeymoon, you can bet our first stop – and our first real out to dinner meal was at the Cheesecake Factory Pasadena.

We had a lovely honeymoon in Santa Barbara at the Fess Parker Doubletree Resort. We spent a few days there exploring before going further north, but called it and came home early. (We were probably running low on Cheesecake after all that wedding cake.)

There’s lots to say from there, but I think I’m going to quit while I’m ahead today.

The Game is Over

Wow. It seems like it is so hard to find the time to write, even just to sleep with all that has been going on lately. What I really feel bad about though is that this is the time when I really need to be writing about all that has been going on. This is the biggest and best time of my life to this point and yet I’m not doing a good job of recording it. I haven’t even been tweeting much because I’ve just been so fully engrossed in Megan that I don’t want any distractions.

Things have really been going great. It pains me to be away from her, and the same is true of her for me. We’ve just been so busy with wedding plans and trying to have some fun on the side. We went two weekends ago to Arizona to get that box from my grandma and had a great time. I took her horseback riding Saturday morning which was just great and we had an awesome time just hanging out with each other and not having to be without the other. This past weekend we took our engagement pictures which turned out great and then went to Cheesecake Factory in Redondo Beach before meeting up with some family members of hers. We then met Ashley and Kenny at Disneyland.

We’ve been working on registering for wedding gifts and have now done that at Crate & Barrel, Target and Macy’s. They are all still works in progress, but at least we are getting somewhere. We just went to Victoria Garden’s to register at Crate & Barrel last night and went to the Cheesecake Factory there. That’s two new Cheesecake’s in like five days. And we went to Rancho Mirage on our way to Arizona! What is there not to love about a girl that takes me to new Cheesecake Factory’s?

President Clegg told us when we met with him a few weeks ago “the game is over” and I’ve been pondering that for some time now. It really is. There are no what-ifs for me. It’s a done deal and I’m ready to be sealed to Megan for time and all eternity in 49 days! I’m so glad that we moved the wedding up and I can’t possibly even begin to imagine how crazy and tired each of us would be if this had dragged out any longer.

Sleep Deprived

Wow, I feel so sleep deprived I don’t know what to do other than sleep. Yesterday was an incredibly long day at the temple, but it was great nonetheless. After I worked my shift, I had lunch at Cheesecake Factory with Brother and Sister Kowallis. It was great to spend some time with them since they have been extracted from the branch! After lunch I stopped by a job site and then went back to the temple. The afternoon shift is so bored that the best thing they had for me to do was to go and do an endowment session, which I was A ok with. I barely got out of that one in time to be there for Frank & Sabrina’s endowment. That all went well, other than it was incredibly warm in the temple all day. It was a long day by the time I finally got back on the road northbound.

I stopped in Fallbrook to pick up my tow hitches that I never moved and forgot to get the last time I was there. I was able to find two of the three, but of course not the one that I was actually looking for and hoping to find. I ended up going and getting a ball to put in the blank hitch I had today which fortunately only cost me about $15. I kind of remember loaning a hitch out to someone, so now I guess I just have to figure out who in the world that might have been and why I loaned it to them!

Monday went pretty well. It was crazy in the office and I don’t remember accomplishing much of anything. I’m thinking I haven’t been at my desk since last Monday now, at least not there long enough to actually accomplish anything. The missionaries came over for dinner and Ashley and Lauren joined us. We had a good time and then Ashley stayed to help get everything cleaned up and we sat and talked past the point at which I should have been sleeping, but it was all good. Sometimes there are things better than sleeping.

I spent most of today in the shop prepping a show for tomorrow. It was quite an interesting experience. I came home to finally have a few minutes to sit at the computer to see how many emails I’ve collected as well as other things. There are quite a few that I still need to respond to. Now I’m going to get that much needed sleep!

Goodbye Christmas

I’m up late tonight kind of waiting for the bedspread to finish in the dryer. I guess I knew I shouldn’t have put it in, but I decided to do it anyway. Larilyn came over and took down the Christmas decorations tonight, thanks out to her for her kindness to help old Scrooge out. I know we were a few weeks behind in taking it down, but the tree was actually looking pretty good until just this week when I stopped watering it. It looks really empty now where it used to be and I feel like I need to find something to fill the void.

I went to the temple this morning for Craig’s endowment. It was fun to go with some people and meet other down there. I guess it just goes to show that we need to get together more often for trips to the temple. I actually think I had a harder time getting up this morning at 7 than I do Tuesday mornings at 4. I was so exhausted after all the walking yesterday and then being out late that it took it’s toll on me. When we got home from the temple I had to just sit and relax for a while. I spent some time over at the Dowden’s this afternoon as I had to go and fetch my phone back and we sat talking for a while.

Things went well at NAMM Thursday and Friday. Friday we got there kind of late and ended up paring in the Disneyland structure and walking. That seemed like a good plan since we got to save $12, but it was a bit of a walk. That probably wouldn’t have been as big of a deal if we didn’t continue walking and standing around once we got into the convention. And then after the show we went to Disneyland till they kicked us out at 10. That made for a long couple of days.

I decided to lug the camera around the show floor on Friday so I could snap some pictures. I was hoping to find some good products and maybe get some pictures I could use for something at work. Since we walked directly to Disneyland, I ended up having it there too which is something I’ve never done before. It actually worked alright carrying it on the rides, although it certainly meant that I was holding on to it for dear life. I did get to snap some pictures in the park though and on some of the rides. I was courteous enough to not use the flash unlike many of the other people with cameras.

Oh, we got to go see Teal (think Cheesecake) on Thursday night. That was great and has been long overdue. We were thinking about going back Friday, but she was a breaker so it wasn’t clear if we could see her or not. She excused us from coming Friday night, but I made a promise to come back soon.

I don’t think I have any major findings or revelations for today, so I’m going to call it quits and get to bed finally!

iPhone

Despite the trouble I’ve had getting to work on time recently, I was in Fallbrook before 8 this morning for my semi-annual teeth cleaning. That went well, but I discovered tonight how sensitive my gums are when I brushed my teeth.

I did a horrible thing on my way to the office. I’ve been trying to talk myself out of this for some time now, but I ended up at the AT&T store and picked up an iPhone. It’s absolutely absurd that I’m even considering such device as a possibility. I think everything is going about as planned. I’m getting used to the phone, but the service is horrible. The data is so incredibly slow I think sometimes I could walk to Google and ask them for a map or a search result before the phone is able to find the network and get going on it. I really don’t think I could ever use the device actually as a voice communications device (i.e. phone), but since I primarily use my Sprint phone for text messaging and data applications, it has a chance of working out.

I was in the office all alone most of the day. Today was supposed to be a day off for Batch, but of course he was still working and Tara was out with her dog. I was able to hold the fort down for the most part, I just forget how lonesome it is to be there without any company.

Batch and I went to finish up an install tonight. We had to touch up some programming and install a switch to change programs on an audio DSP unit. We then went out to Cheesecake at Tyler mall where I got to try the new peppermint bark cheesecake. It was pretty good, and I have half of it leftover because I was so stuffed!

Second Week

My second week as a temple ordinance worker went well. I even got there a bit earlier this week which was cool. I think I did a better job getting to sleep last night which certainly helped with getting up this morning. Maybe it was just cause I didn’t blog!

I decided on Cheesecake for lunch today. The strawberry lemonade sounded really good. Come to think of it, I only drank two though! What’s up with that? I was thinking as I was driving to work if it really makes sense to go into work on Tuesdays. I think the real advantage is that I can get through some of the stuff so i don’t feel like I’m behind when I come in on Wednesday. I could probably do that just as well from home though too. That could let me take my time returning, i.e. I could go shopping (no more Crate & Barrel).

Alison came over and we made dinner. Actually, I was making dinner and then she took over as she didn’t approve of how I was going to make it. That’s fine by me! I watched some Without a Trace and now I’m going to sleep.

Five Endowments Later

Wow. Four o’clock came way too early this morning and it was not exactly what I would call fun getting up that early. Nevertheless, I did it and I would have been on time for the six o’clock session if I had recalled that Murrieta is about 15 minutes farther away than Fallbrook is from the San Diego Temple! It worked out though cause I got to hang with Bro Kowallis for the first two sessions, did one by myself and then caught up with the group after lunch and the chapel session.

The five sessions have totally wiped me out though. Or maybe it was getting up at four after going to bed around ten. Either way, I’m barely awake enough and really don’t have the energy enough to type this now.

I did get set apart tonight as the Elders Quorum President, in the temple of all places. That was kind of cool (literally, the room was freezing!) I also get set apart for another calling minutes later. I’ll be serving as an ordinance worker every Tuesday morning now. Looks like I’d better get used to getting up at four – or even earlier! What did I get myself into?

Actually, we had talked about this a long time ago and never got it started for some reason. I’m looking forward to it; I just need to figure out the logistical end of it and break the news to the office folks. I know they’re going to love me!

I was craving a strawberry lemonade as I was leaving the temple. Actually, I was craving one about 10 o’clock this morning. My throat was so dry I could barely stand to be there. I hit up Cheesecake Factory and had some amazing Orange Chicken. I think it was still hot as I devoured the last piece I ate it so fast. I was totally starving. Although, I must admit that the $3 I spent for chicken fried steak at the temple cafeteria today was totally worth it.

More to write, but I need to sleep…

Wicked Trip Part 1

Wicked Trip Part 1

I think I was, for the first time in history, the last person to leave the Dowden’s house tonight, eh, this morning. I went over there for dinner and of course got to working with Sister Dowden on website stuff and the like. We eventually got to talking and that led to me being there way past my bedtime. This was even the second time this week I was home after Geoff!

I totally wanted today to be Saturday and wanted to sleep in this morning. In fact, I did sleep in a bit too much and was late to work. I think taking most of Wednesday off has confused me – or maybe I’m just that way naturally.

I should probably be sleeping. Unfortunately, I’m worried that if I don’t write about Wicked soon, I’m never going to do it! So, let’s see. In the interest of revealing more about myself than I probably should – I don’t know if I was nervous about going to Wicked, really excited, some of both or something else. I had been thinking about what I was going to wear for a week. A week! I don’t know if most girls would think about it that far in advance. I really wanted to get all ready to defy gravity. I, of course, wasn’t seriously going to wear a dress to the show. I was thinking a new shirt and tie for the evening and then just didn’t seem to have the time to make it happen. Well, I ran to Men’s Warehouse right after I got off work to exchange my shoes (they gave me a 13 EEE this time!) and to see what they had to suggest. They hooked me up with a green and black tie and we then found an olive striped shirt. Now to really show the girl in me, I texted Tara about this and she told me I was such a girl. I figured at that point I might as well let it all out and sent her pictures of the various suits I was debating wearing that night. I know, what a dork!

Surprisingly, I was right on time to pick up Krystal. I figured I was going to get some quality time of Waitin’ on a Woman. This was where I learned how punctual she really is as she was ready to go! I’m glad I wasn’t late and I managed to pull everything together in a matter of minutes. Oh yeah, I left out the part about searching for a car wash throughout the day. I had realized the night before when Jiffy Lube cleaned my windows how dirty the car was. Well, no one seems to have touchless car washes. I finally remembered the Mobil by Pat & Oscar’s and drove down there. Fortunately it was able to get most of the dirt off my car.

We had a good drive up and only hit a little bit of traffic on the 405 past LAX. We didn’t really have a plan of what to do with our extra time, so I took us to the Los Angeles Temple. I had only driven by once before (after my last time at Wicked actually) and had never spent any time on the temple grounds there. At the time Krystal didn’t think she had ever been there either, but remembered when we got there that she had been to a wedding there once. We got out and started taking a walk around. Krystal made some comment about not having my camera and I pulled out my little Nikon. I had left the big boy at home for once. We took the normal pictures and then decided to try and cause some trouble. I promise we didn’t see any signs that said to stay on the path as we decided to venture off into the trees. It was there the picture taking really started.

After an hour or so at the temple, and without getting yelled at, we headed off to The Cheesecake Factory Beverly Hills. Yet again Krystal managed to have been there, I guess for prom a few years back. It’s not everyday I run into someone who has been to a Cheesecake Factory that I haven’t been to.

OK… brain just shut off… till tomorrow.

Wicked was Awesome with Krystal

Wicked was Awesome with Krystal

Totally amazing afternoon and evening tonight. The show was great. I totally think that this was the most excited I had been for any of the times I’ve been to see Wicked. I would do it again tomorrow night in a heartbeat.

It’s so past my bedtime, so in the interest of keeping this short. We went to the LA Temple and took some pictures and walked around. Then we went to Cheesecake Beverly and then it was off to the show. The timing on things seemed to work out perfectly and I thought of other great things we could have done like taking a tour of Beverly Hills, doing a studio tour, etc. I didn’t get my Crate & Barrel in, so I’ll have to make a trip to one sometime soon – maybe Friday night.

Hopefully I can finish this post up “tomorrow” with some fuller information. For tonight, I think it will suffice to say that it was awesome. The show was great, the seats were great, the company was great, the timing was great. I even got Krystal to say she would make me a Galinda dress for me to wear. Maybe we can go around as the witches on halloween.

Painting Ideas

I finally got Sib over here tonight. It nearly involved kidnapping her, nevertheless she came peacefully. We started talking about ideas for painting and she realized what a big job it is going to be. With dinner and then being rushed to go home teaching, we didn’t get anything settled, so we will have to finish it up another time.

Work went well today. Time seemed to fly and I can’t really pinpoint what exactly I was able to accomplish. My desk is still a mess…

Sister Dowden, Larilyn, Kenny and I went to the temple Tuesday night. I hadn’t been in a really long time – I think she the last time I went with Sister Dowden a few (two-three) months ago. It was good and so was the Cheesecake that followed. I got home way too late though and have been having a hard time getting up all week. I’ve barely made it to the office on time and haven’t had the leisurely time in the morning I like to have. That also means I haven’t had a chance to dive deeper into scripture study.

Larilyn was over last night and made cheesecake. Lauren and Michelle came and helped us eat the ground beef tacos that needed to be gone ASAP. Again I was up too late.

I was thinking tonight on the way home from home teaching that I could get to sleep early. Then I decided that this was my only chance to carpet clean Geoff’s room before he moves in, so I decided to do that. Then the hallway outside the garage. After the third time I filled the machine up, I decided it was time to call it a night! I’m glad I did it though because it appears that it pulled a lot of dirt out of the carpet. I need to work on doing a room a night or something so I can get the whole house done.

Geoff is moving in tomorrow, so my peace and quiet may be gone. I’m thinking that maybe I’ll start actively looking for more roommates once I’ve got him settled in so I can bring in the cash to keep working on the project list. Sib told me tonight not to get married, just so I could keep both sides of the closet! Oh the joys of sharing…

I’ve got dinner plans with the family tomorrow night and am hoping to get some family history done at the same time although I understand Tom won’t be home. Then I’m hoping to get the first movie night in this week and we’ll see what fun projects the weekend brings.

On the Air and Online

Yesterday went well with the ham radio and FIOS installs. I was home all day and actually never even left. I thought about going out and grabbing some things on my list, but decided that I didn’t need to make a special trip since I was going to be out and about essentially every other day. I also had the electrician take care of a few other loose ends, like the switches in the back bedroom and putting a duplex in the garage instead of the singled edison that was there. It is great to have internet and be moving forward. I also got my TV mounted on the wall, and rehung the evid that was a little bit off from the other night. I should have my in wall evids coming next week, so I can clean that up and then I think the family room will be ready for paint.

I saw this beautiful dining room on HGTV this morning. It was a really light blue with dark wood. They paneled the bottom half of the wall with wood matching the table and made place and seat mats that matched the blue in the walls. I was thinking that might work for my dining room to spice it up a bit down the road. I think I’m going to start with painting the rooms that need it due to the patching of holes in the walls and such and then work on the other ones down the road.

Alison and Nathaniel came over for dinner last night. We just made pasta and bread, nothing special, but it was good. We just hung out for a while after and watched some Get Smart. Alison had never seen the show, but has seen the movie, go figure.

I had Verizon coming back out this morning to fix the set top box for the TV which kept turning off randomly. However, shortly after I called in yesterday, I couldn’t reproduce the problem on the box so I’m figuring it was just downloading software updates or something. Hopefully all is well now. I turned off the wireless in the router Verizon gave me and got a Netgear unit in here that is doing a much better job! Those actiontek pieces of junk just don’t seem to work at all with the macbooks. I couldn’t stream music at all and I actually got to the point last night where I used my aircard to surf the net instead of the fios!

The roadshow went well today. I learned about and saw some new products that I knew had been in the works and some that I didn’t know of. I was interested to find that they released 90 degree versions of all the line array boxes (or most of them anyway). I guess it had been something that was specifically requested enough times they decided to make it a standard order part. I could see the use for it with the tighter beams on the top and widening as you go down to help compensate for the throw distance. I’m interested to see what it does to the specs on the rest of the box and then when the array is working as a whole since I presume that changes a lot.

I rushed out of the roadshow to drive over 100 miles from San Dimas to San Diego (Fashion Valley). Susan wanted to go to Cheesecake Factory for her birthday dinner. I didn’t think I was going to make it, but we got out early enough so it worked out. It was a bit of a long drive (especially considering I’m getting used to my 11 minute commute to work and 5 minute drive to church – when I leave the house, that is). After dinner we went shopping at Crate & Barrel and then Williams Sonoma. I got a lot of stuff at Crate & Barrel and will probably need to go back there with Sib or someone next week after I get a new list of things I need in order to cook and serve. I’m sure I’ll need a bunch of stuff for the housewarming party which I haven’t even started to think about yet.

Maegan and Larilyn came over tonight after institute. Larilyn brought the stuff to make the Boston Cream Cheesecake sometime in the future. While she was here, she helped eat the brownies and then we got into pictures from her trip. I got to use the SD card reader in my blu-ray DVD player which was kind of cool, other than we couldn’t figure out how to zoom or rotate any of the pictures. Maegan then wanted to continue with the pictures so I showed her what I had on my laptop which wasn’t nearly as interesting as Larilyn’s pictures.

I’m bummed I missed institute for the third week in a row and also curious what I missed at the stake priesthood leadership meeting tonight. I think I was in the right place though, so I’m just going to go with it and go to bed!

Day at Home

I spent most of the day at home. I had people coming throughout the day for various things and was busy making progress. I got almost all of the baseboards and windowsills vacuumed this morning before the electrician and pest control came. The washer and dryer showed up and the delivery guys had fun lugging those beasts upstairs. They did a remarkably good job getting them to fit in the laundry room which is great. I was expecting them to not fit so nicely side by side, so I am impressed.

After the pest control was done I had to leave the house for a few hours so I went and got my refund for the couch that wasn’t going to work and then went to SK to purchase the sofa and loveseat for the living room. Batch was kind enough to pick that up for me on his way back to the office and we got it all setup. I had been working with Ashley Furniture here in Murrieta on some other things. Shelly suggested I give the store in Colton a try and they were able to give me the items for will call today and give me a much better price to make it worthwhile to drive there! I think I saved close to a thousand dollars and got things faster by driving to Colton!

Nathaniel and Batch were kind enough to drive up in the truck to get my new furniture and then stay to help set it up. We made sure to stop at Cheesecake in Riverside on the way back and then I made, if you can call it that, strawberry shortcake after we got finished assembling everything.

After I get gas tomorrow, I feel like things will be complete enough to actually enjoy the house instead of just constantly working to get it ready to live in. It will have actually only taken me a week which Is pretty impressive! There will, of course, always be more things to do and I have a long list of upgrades to make and such, but I think I can actually start enjoying it and just having weekend projects instead of spending my life cleaning. I almost can’t wait to use my new washer and dryer tomorrow night!
