Quiet Day of Chores

Quiet Day of Chores

Maybe before people decide to advertise on electronic screens they should inquire as to what is powering them. I mean, why pay to advertise how horrible windows is? We already know it crashes constantly – is it really necessary to advertise that at the gas station? Insist that your advertising displays run on a Mac. Maybe people will see what you are paying for.

I spent some time this morning catching up on blog reading and still trying to figure out twitter. I think I’m starting to get the idea behind it, although I still can’t understand what it does for me more than the status in facebook does. I guess it is just another one of those independent services we all have to deal with. I wish everyone could just have their own domain with whatever works best for them running on it sending out RSS feeds. That would I think essentially solve the need for all these different sites we have now. I realize it will never happen, but I think that is one of the reasons why I am so slow to adopt some of these new technologies/sites that others jump on right away.

I spent a good chunk of the day cleaning the house. I also spent time working on this console situation for the show this weekend among other things. I watched some TV, made some phone calls for home teaching and made orange chicken for dinner. It was essentially a pretty quiet day at home. I thought Lauren was going to come up, but she never did. Alison and I were going to try and meet for lunch, but that didn’t happen. I thought about going to dinner with Bouse, but he wanted to go to Outback and I’ve officially given up on that place. It’s hard to believe it, but I’ve actually stuck by it when I said I wasn’t going back. I can’t stand that they can’t figure out how to cook the meat right.

In fact, I would have spent the entire day at home if Maegan and Larilyn didn’t drag me out of the house to have dessert with them at Johnny Carino’s. I decided to try something new – the cannoli i think it was. It was actually pretty good, although Maegan will attest that the cake something or other she got was amazing and much better than anything I could possibly have chosen to get. This is why we had to have two desserts – so she could have the cake and I could try something new. They invited me to the movies as well. I just came home to finish off my boring day at home, home alone. I ended up watching an episode of CSI, which surprisingly, I hadn’t seen before!

And now, I can get to sleep at a reasonable time instead of still being locked in a movie theater for another 40 minutes and not getting home until tomorrow. I’m very anxious to find out what is going on tomorrow with President Mattson being released. From the calls I made today regarding home teaching, I can see that we have a lot of work cut out for us with people leaving. There were also a few who didn’t know they had assignments, which I think means that I must have never gotten the new assignments to them. I guess that is where calling comes in!

Baked & Burned = Exhausted

Things got pretty crazy today. I was trying to get payroll done, or even started for that matter and then had to head out for a site survey for this weekends event. It was flipping hot out there in Lake Elsinore, although not really any hotter than it was in Murrieta. We should have a great event this weekend and I am looking forward to working with these guys more in the future. Once I got back to the office it was trying to catchup and then in meetings for the rest of the day.

I’ve just been exhausted all day since being outside this morning and getting sunburned probably. I’ve had a decent headache and have been thinking about going to bed since I got home around 6. Fortunately the Alieve just started to kick in after comparing insurance quotes and reading Consumer Reports for a while. Looks like Western Mutual has the best policy at the best price, about $725. They are also offering earthquake insurance, although not actually offered by them I’m sure, for $476. I’m not sure if it is really going to be worth it or not. I’m sure the chances are slim that my house will be destroyed in an earthquake, yet they are still there. Any suggestions on what to do?

I also spent some time reading about the effect of Gen Y on the net, marketing and so forth. I kept reading about twitter, so I decided to sign up finally. I’ve resisted signing up since I couldn’t understand the point of the system/service. Now that I’ve signed up, I still can’t figure it out. What’s the point? If I want to tell you what I’m doing this second, I’ll tell you via my blog or facebook. If I really want you to know, I’ll send you a text message every few seconds. Maybe I’m just not ready to live my life that connected. I rarely even use facebook’s status thing for what I’m actually doing and instead usually just to broadcast messages.

Maybe someone can help me out and bring me into the 21st century!

Well, no news on the house. For the record, we offered $335, $10k over the asking price. At this point I’m now kind of hoping that we don’t get it and we can move onto something else. Of course, we are already working on trying to find something else and see what comes up. There are enough downers to the house that I won’t be sad if I don’t get it and I’m not opposed to waiting until the right thing comes on the market at some point.

We had some amazing thunderstorms today. They were a good reminder of the great ones we had constantly in Idaho. We were sitting in the office this morning and heard some rumblings. Eventually we went outside to check it out and decided it was thunder. A few minutes later it started raining, then pouring. The streets were flooded within minutes and I got a good car wash. It was raining so hard that the water coming down from the roof in a 3″ pipe was shooting about two feet out at the bottom, only inches off the ground. Water was also coming in the vents on the side of the skylight, either from so much water being up on the roof or it raining at a weird angle.

I got a letter from Tara tonight that said she had an investigator add me as a friend on facebook. The only problem is I don’t know who it was and I’m afraid that I may have ignored the friend request without knowing who it was. I can’t seem to find any way to get back to them and don’t even have a record of who it would have been to go back and ask them. I’ll just have to ask Tara and wait and see I guess.

it’s getting late and there is no rest for the weary this weekend, so I had better get to sleep with a long day ahead tomorrow.
