Hate On 8

If this is what tolerance looks like, I’d like some ideas of how we can be more tolerant of others who have beliefs differing from ours.

This is only a taste of what has been done and what is to come if we fail to pass proposition eight next week. Even if you don’t believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, I implore you to consider voting yes on 8 to protect the freedoms that have been established and no longer promote intolerance like this.

I’m sure there was a post and more info that goes along with this story, but I couldn’t find anything on connorboyack.com.

Why ‘yes’ on Proposition 8? – Los Angeles Times

It’s simple: Government did not create marriage. Marriage is older than the U.S. Constitution, older even than the Bible or the Koran. Marriage’s deepest roots are in human nature and human experience. Marriage, as a judge on the Connecticut Supreme Court wrote in his compelling dissent to that court’s recent ruling allowing gays to wed, is rooted “in biology, not bigotry.”

My Questions About Prop 8 In California

A friend of mine recently raised some excellent questions regarding proposition 8, the proposed amendment to the California Constitution to establish marriage as being only between a man and a woman. I think we all could benefit from pondering these questions before taking our vote to the polls next week.

The biggest question many seem to have is regarding what will be taught in the schools. After all, the actual text of the amendment doesn’t include any mention about education.

Protests at Oakland Temple

Protests at Oakland Temple

I just got this message on facebook. I have not confirmed any facts, but if it is true, I believe this is another sign of the persecution that will continue if prop 8 were to fail. We need to pass prop 8 to ensure religious freedoms and not open another can of worms.

I just received an email about protests outside the Oakland Temple that are interfering with and intimidating temple patrons. The local police are not responding well, so we need to appeal to a higher authority.

The protests are regarding California’s Proposition 8, which would define marriage as between one man and one woman.

Regardless of where you stand on the gay marriage issue, no one should be able to interfere with our temple privileges though disruption and intimidation. Please join us in praying for an end to the protests and the strengthening of the Church members in the Oakland Temple District.

How same-sex “marriage” affects Massachusetts

This is a great article listing many of the things we have already seen in Massachusetts regarding gay marriage. This is about freedom, and that is why we need to vote YES on Prop 8 to protect our religious freedoms established centuries ago.

How same-sex “marriage” affects Massachusetts
Anyone who thinks that same-sex “marriage” is a benign eccentricity which won’t affect the average person should consider what it has done in Massachusetts. It’s become a hammer to force the acceptance and normalization of homosexuality on everyone. And this train is moving fast. What has happened so far is only the beginning.

Where’s the Love? – Yes on Prop 8 Yard Signs

And now for a taste of things to come! If opponents of Prop 8 can’t even be tolerant of our signs promoting Prop 8, are they going to be tolerant of our beliefs next month? I think not. This just shows me that we don’t even need to look at what’s happening in MA or kids going to a lesbian wedding on a field trip. This is totally a taste of the intolerance that we will be treated with if prop 8 fails.

Prop 8 Supporter Violently Attacked for Distributing Lawn Signs

This is a sad story about the intolerance of others. I really don’t think it is fair for anyone to call supporters of Prop 8 intolerant of gays. This is exactly why we need to support this measure and ensure that the term marriage is protected. Otherwise we will continue to be treated with intolerance for our traditional beliefs.

Class surprises lesbian teacher on wedding day

These are first graders being subjected to lesbian marriage. These kids are five or six years old and had no choice in this matter.

Now we don’t even have to talk about what might happen if prop 8 fails or use examples from other states. We have proof here in California that if we do not protect marriage and allow the ruling of four judges to overturn 61% of the population our kids will see these things and be taught them first hand when they are way too young to even understand.

Making Progress

I feel like I was actually able to make some progress at work today. I was able to get through a lot of my email and even check a few things off my to do list. Dell can’t seem to get their act together though and the laptop I was promised I would have by tomorrow at the latest isn’t scheduled to ship till Monday. I’ve informed them multiple times now that if I don’t have it this weekend, I don’t want it. They are now proposing to ship it Saturday for Monday morning delivery I think. I really don’t want to cut it that close but I guess if that is what it comes down to. Otherwise I may just have go find one locally.

Institute was great as always tonight. It is so hard to quantify what we learn each week, but I am really starting to get a better understanding of so much of the old testament that I’ve never had before. It is slowly sinking in and I am very grateful for Sister Dowden’s help.

I found a few comments on my post regarding prop 8 from last night which was kind of exciting. I hope we are on the right track. I completely understand why people are against the proposition, I just know what we need to do everything we can to make sure it passes to protect marriage.
